Another 1st for me, this was the 1st turbocharged F1 car I saw, when it debuted at the 1977 British Grand Prix, we camped at the circuit from the Thursday to the Sunday and had a very cheap way of watching the practice and races, for legal reasons it is best not to discuss.

I loved watching the Mexico racing, Brands Hatch also had a fleet of cars that were used for “celebrity” races at the groups circuits, even once including a House of Commons v Lords race at Brands.

Typical Mexico racing
This may seem a strange choice, but they gave great entertainment in the 70’s., with queues of cars snaking through the corners bumper to bumper. I watched these cars throughout Europe as they supported Grand Prix races, even at Monaco, that was fun.

Renault Five
This car finished 3rd at Le Mans in 1976 my 1st trip of many to the great French circuit. The British fans went wild when the Tate and Lyle and Hammonds sauce sponsored car crossed the line.

De Cadenet Lola
One of my favourite cars of all time I love watching them race today at the classic Le Mans races

Roger Williamson’s March 723 F3 car this was the car that the first race I ever saw at Oulton Park in 1972, it was a very wet meeting that I walked and hitch hiked to in the pouring rain.

Ronnie Petersons March 722 F2 car this was the car that won at my 1st attendance at a race meeting, Oulton Park in 1972, it was a very wet meeting that I walked and hitch hiked to in the pouring rain.
